Iβm Rachna Uberoi, and I love helping children discover the joy of reading. For over 25 years, Iβve worked with young learners to build strong literacy foundations that give them the confidence and independence to thrive as readers.
I hold a Master's degree in Special Education, along with my Ontario teacher's license. My experience has empowered me with the tools and knowledge to support diverse learners, including those who may need extra guidance in developing early reading skills.
In my teaching, I use a variety of proven strategies to support literacy growth. These include:
β’ Phonics-based instruction to strengthen sound- letter connections.
β’ Guided reading sessions that allow children to practice fluency and comprehension.
β’ Multisensory techniques (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to engage different learning styles.
β’ Games and hands-on activities to make reading fun and interactive.
β’ Sight word practice to help children recognize common words quickly and with ease.
I believe every child is capable of learning to read with the right support, patience, and encouragement. My goal is not only to teach reading skills, but also to nurture a lifelong love of books and learning.
I also take great pride in guiding parents through the literacy journey. I know how important it is for families to feel supported and informed, which is why I provide parents with strategies, insights, and encouragement to use at home. My role is not just to teach children, but also to be a resource for parents β someone you can talk to, ask questions, and lean on for guidance. Together, we create a team around your child so that learning to read feels consistent, supported, and joyful both in lessons and at home.
My teaching practice is grounded in evidence-based literacy instruction, including:
β’ Phonics and phonemic awareness to build sound-symbol connections.
β’ Guided reading to develop fluency and comprehension without tears.
β’ Multisensory methods (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to engage learners of all styles.
β’ Explicit vocabulary and sight word instruction to strengthen word recognition.
β’ Play-based and interactive strategies that make reading meaningful and enjoyable.
I am committed to creating a supportive learning environment where each child feels confident, motivated, and equipped to succeed as a reader. My goal is to ensure that every child not only learns to read, but develops a lifelong love for reading and learning.
